Designing a scalable UX and design system for a complex ESG platform.

Evora Global is a consulting firm specialising in sustainability and climate risk management for real estate. They set out to develop SIERA+, an ESG software platform designed to help clients track, manage and improve their environmental impact.

The challenge

The product was being defined alongside its development. The core challenge was to create a coherent, scalable experience from early concept through to MVP and commercial release, while keeping the interface intuitive for users working with complex ESG data.

There was also a need to establish a consistent design language that could support long-term product growth without the product losing coherence as it evolved.

UX/UI work

Embedded within the Panda Associates core team, I worked across UX research and interface design for the platform.

I was responsible for shaping the user experience, defining key interface patterns and developing a structured design system in Figma to ensure consistency across the product. Working from concept through to MVP and final release, I helped translate complex sustainability and reporting requirements into a clear, usable product experience.

We focused on

How users interact with ESG and sustainability data
How complex datasets could be made easier to navigate and understand
How workflows could support ongoing monitoring and reporting
How a scalable design system could support product growth over time

What we found

Users needed clarity over complexity. Working across multiple data views and reporting workflows meant that inconsistency, however small, added up quickly and increased cognitive load.

Strong structure and visual hierarchy were essential to support decision-making, particularly where data was dense or required interpretation.

A shared design system was critical, not just for consistency during delivery but to ensure the product could evolve without losing coherence.

We established a clear and consistent design system to support the platform's usability and long-term growth.

Designed interface patterns that made complex ESG data easier to scan and interpret
Shaped core user flows from data research through to reporting outputs
Created a scalable visual language to support future product expansion

Outcome

SIERA+ launched as a commercially available ESG software platform. It gives Evora Global's clients a clearer, more structured way to track and manage environmental impact, helping them make more informed sustainability decisions.

The design system continues to support the product's evolution, maintaining consistency as new features and data models are introduced.
